REVIEW
Almost is the second book in this series, but this can be read as a stand-alone. I had no problems following and feel that the first couple in the series didn't featured to heavily in Almost.
This was an enjoyable second chance romance, quite low on angst and drama. It kept me turning page after page even though at times both Carter and Sophie frustrated me.
Carter and Sophie meet Ten Years ago both were falling hard and fast. That is until Sophie ups and leaves without telling Carter. This leaves him confused, hurt, angry and leads him to have a bitter opinion on women.
"I had a motto: girls were like dessert. You savoured dessert, you made room for dessert, but did not eat the same dessert every night for the rest of your life."
Now Sophie is back, she knows she has a lot of explaining to do. She's scared and nervous for the reactions she will receive when the truth comes out. To her family but especially to the man she's never gotten over.
"Twinkle, twinkle, little star, my broken body full of scars. You gave me strength to fight the fight. Now give me strength through the night."
With great chemistry even when they were rubbing each other up the wrong way. And some truths and surprises that test Carter and Sophie. We get an entertaining and slightly emotional read. Watching them overcome and embrace everything that life throws at them.
