Release Blitz & 5⭐️ Review - Goodbye Paradise by Sarina Bowen

Goodbye Paradise
Author: Sarina Bowen
Publication Date: 21st March 2017

Most people called it a cult. But for twenty years, Josh and Caleb called it home.
In Paradise, there is no television. No fast food. Just long hours of farm work and prayer on a dusty Wyoming ranch, and nights in a crowded bunkhouse. The boys of the Compound are kept far from the sinners’ world.
But Joshua doesn’t need temptation to sin. His whole life, he’s wanted his best friend, Caleb. By day they work side by side. Only when Josh closes his eyes at night can they be together the way he craves.
It can never be. And his survival depends on keeping his terrible desires secret.
Caleb has always protected Josh against the worst of the bullying at the Compound. But he has secrets of his own, and a plan to get away — until it all backfires.
Josh finds himself homeless in a world that doesn’t want him. Can Caleb find him in time? And will they find a place of safety, where he can admit to Josh how he really feels?
Warning: Contains a hot male/male romance, copious instances of taking the Lord’s name in vain, and love against the kitchen counter. This book was previously released under the title: In Front of God & Everyone.

I absolutely adored this book even in its simplicity it was such a moving powerful read. I couldn't put it down from start to finish. Their story was such a powerful and emotional journey of two boys growing in a very strict religious environment into men with nothing to guide them through it but each other. I like that there was no crazy drama, no silly angst. This story felt raw and real and i think anything over the top would have taken away from this incredibly moving romance.

Caleb and Josh have grew up in a religious commune/cult in their early years they were allowed to be schooled and visit some what to the outside world. But when questions were raised the elders decided it would be better if all were kept on the grounds and a select few were able to leave for provisions. So Josh has a little of understanding the outside world, but Caleb is one of the selected to be able to leave so he knows more, he also has ID a drivers licence and secretly can't wait to leave. Josh on the other hand has none of those things and he knows his day will come when he will be tossed out due to the men to women ratio. He views himself as the weaker of the men with nothing to offer unlike Caleb who strong and can offer more.

“No,” he whispered, still stroking my face. “Hurting someone is a sin. Did I hurt you?”
“No.”
“Does this hurt someone else? Are you going to marry a woman, Josh? Am I keeping you from that?”
“No.”

Their friendship is strong and Caleb has been Josh's confidant and protector. Josh has always been at the bottom of the food chain so Caleb has always looked out for him and protected him. But friendship isn't all Josh wants from Caleb even though he could never voice his feelings to anyone. Thinking his feeling that he has for his best friend are wrong he struggles daily fearing if anyone was to find out that he would loose his best friend. What Josh doesn't know is that Caleb has been in love with Josh for just as long he was always just better at hiding his feeling to the rest of the commune. So when it becomes evident that Josh will soon be tossed out, Caleb makes a plan to escape. Their world is about to be turned upside down and they will need all the strength they can give each other to make their way.

Caleb and Josh balanced each other so well and their undying devotion to each other was nothing if not incredibly emotional and moving. Josh never thought he had the type of strength that Caleb had and i loved that on the outside world Josh began to shine. I'm already a huge fan of Sarina Bowen but this raw and emotional book has a forever place in my heart. Thank you Sarina Bowen for bringing this moving story out and republishing in your name as i may never had found this read!!

I would highly recommend a Sarina Bowen read and if you're a fan of M/M read like myself then this really is a must read.
