Chris Harper is a writer with a heart of gold who finds himself down on his luck when his day job suddenly goes under. Left jobless, he’s able to land a gig as a mall Santa. He expects it to be a decent temporary job without making any lasting impression on his life.
Ho ho hooo, was he wrong about that.
Mark Nolan is a handsome real estate mogul who lived most of his life as a lie. When his daughter was born, Mark realized he needed to be true to what he felt. He came out as gay and tried to find love with another man, only to have his heart shattered and his trust fractured.
Then, during a masquerade party, Mark connects with a man unlike any other. Unfortunately, their connection is abruptly cut short and both are left asking themselves ‘what if’.
A year later and that same man is sitting in Santa’s sleigh, waiting to hear what Mark’s daughter wants for Christmas. Will they listen to fate and try to form something that lasts beyond chance encounters or will the ghosts of Christmas past come to tear them apart?
Are you on the Good or Naughty list ??
Well i must be on the Good list as i got to read this "Holy jingleballs," beauty of a Christmas read from Max Walker. I absolutely devoured this fabulous standalone Christmas treat.
It's Christmas Time and Chris finds himself at a Masquerade evening with his best friend Tina. On arriving Chris spot's his douche-bag of an ex and quickly ducks away to explore his surroundings not wanting to see him.
I loved the banter between these two you could tell they have a fabulous friendship.
"If you find yourself under a mistletoe, you have to suck that person's dick....."
"Wait what?"
Mark is a single dad he divorced his wife just after his daughter was born both realising that Mark had being living a lie. I both loved and respected their relationship even though both were gutted they were able to move forward and create a happy life for their daughter.
He has had one disastrous relationship with a man since his divorce so has been solely focusing on her after his this Ex did quite the number on him. With him being able to hide his identity he feels a bit more comfortable about diving back into the dating scene. While at the party Mark finds himself standing shoulder to shoulder next to a man. When it's pointed out that they are both under a hanging bunch of mistletoe.
"Looks like you two have to kiss"
It's instant chemistry between Chris and Mark and things seem to be going great until Mark suddenly ups and leaves, and Chris is left with feelings of the one that got away...
We jump forward one year later when Chris's life is a bit up in the air and he has to take a job as a Christmas Santa. It's here where he meets his mystery man once again while he brings his daughter to see Santa.
Fate, Destiny what ever you believe keeps throwing these two together. So on the third time of meeting while each trying to find a Christmas Tree they set an actual date to take a train trip on the Knight Sky.
"He was the kind of man that was hard to get out of your mind. The kind that makes a mark on the heart and never disappears."
I'm not going to give to much more away and believe me there is a whole lot more to this fabulous read. What i will say is we get from this point on a blossoming friendship that quickly develops into a beautiful relationship and some very hot and steamy romance parts and at the end of the story my heart was singing with the Beautiful epilogue and the sneaky peak at some old favourites.
I would Highly recommend this read and Author a thousand times over. Max Walker pulled me in with this read from the very first page and i couldn't put it down. One of the best parts in this read was Mark's daughter i adored how Max incorporated her into this book. To show a beautiful happy family so in the words of Katie....
"I saw daddy kissing Santaaaa Claus."
Max Walker writes from a cozy apartment (or during breaks at the dreaded day job) for the pure escape of it all. Since the age of 14, he was constantly getting lost in fantasy worlds with trips on the backs of dragons or voyages across the stars. When he isn't writing, you can probably find him cuddling with his calico cat who might actually think she's a dog (with all that constant tail-wagging).
