Review: Cover Me, The Guardian Series #1 by Max Walker

Title: Cover Me
(The Guardian Series #1)
Author: Max Walker
Genre: Contemporary M/M Romance
Published: 20 May 2016

"I'm not that same kid anymore, Adrian. I'm a grown ass man that knows what he wants"

Tristan Cole made a mistake. He thought he could have his happily-ever-after with his best friend and soon to be partner in the FBI. He underestimated how much of an effect shame could have on a person. Years later, Tristan finds himself in trouble again when a car accident causes the drug kingpin he was after to slip through his fingers.

"I can give myself to you in ways I only dreamed about.”

Adrian Hawk has been running his whole life. Being raised under the shadow of a highly religious father meant his feelings for other men had to be buried deep in his soul. The shame of his passion caused him to push Tristan away, the one man who could make him truly complete.

"I've got you covered."

Tristan and Adrian find themselves thrown together to stop the King Cartel before they pull off a terrorist attack on US soil. Time is of the essence, so when old feelings start to resurface, both of them must face their past before it becomes a distraction. Can they manage to get over their old scars in time or will their feelings cost them both more than they could have ever imagined?
This is the first book in The Guardian Series.
We kick start off with Tristan and Adrian who fast became friends when they joined the FBI Academy at the same time. They Connected straight away and a friendship turned into wanting more.
Tristan is openly gay although he's quite about it, it isn't a secret. Adrian grew up with a bigoted father so when a drunken night turns in a lust filled moment Adrian's fears rise and he panics, he wants Tristan more than anything but pushes him away in that moment then away from his life altogether and in doing so breaking Tristan's heart.
Years later a case brings them back together and feelings arise once again, Will a broken heart, anger and fears of something new win or Will love win out.....

This is second chance romance and Max Walker has given us everything in this read with action, suspense, bigotry, heart ache but most of all Love and that Love Is Love!!!
Great start to this new series and I look forward to reading book 2 when it's available.

****I would like to thank the author for the privilege and opportunity of reading this ARC. My review was an honest opinion of the book****
Max Walker writes from a cozy apartment (or during breaks at the dreaded day job) for the pure escape of it all. Since the age of 14, he was constantly getting lost in fantasy worlds with trips on the backs of dragons or voyages across the stars. When he isn't writing, you can probably find him cuddling with his calico cat who might actually think she's a dog (with all that constant tail-wagging).
