Release Blitz & Review: First Down by Max Walker

Title: First Down
Series: The Guardian Series #2
Author: Max Walker
Publication Date: 21st June 2016

Sean Drake is a closeted college football player coming up on the most important year of his life. He’s been the star quarterback at the University of Florida for three years in a row and now he was facing bright NFL prospects. All he needed to do was stay focused on the game and come out a winner. Things get harder when Sean starts being stalked by a crazy fan and finds their advances only getting bolder and more threatening.

Connor Hawk works as a bodyguard for an exclusive agency in Los Angeles. He lives life day to day, protecting celebrities and politicians for a paycheck and then finding a random guy to ease the pressure over a night. He resigned himself to living a lonely life caring only about his work. That all changes when he gets flown to Gainesville for an assignment that alters his future in the blink of an eye.

When Connor and Sean meet, their chemistry is undeniable. Both of the men must come to terms with feelings they thought they were never destined to have. Meanwhile, the stalker becomes more persistent and ends up doing something unimaginable. Now, Sean is faced with a choice that could potentially push him out of the closest in the worst way possible or he could sacrifice the one person that ever made him feel complete.

FIRST DOWN is a hot and steamy, gay romance novel with no cliffhangers. It is the second book in The Guardian series but can be read as a standalone.

This is our Second instalment of the Guardian Series and we first met Connor in Cover Me Tristan and Adrian's story. I couldn't wait to read Connor's book who wouldn't want to read about bodyguard and a American football player and with Max's writing i new we would be in for a hot read but it was so much more with laughter, friendship, love, drama, angst and a crazy ass stalker!!

Sean Drake is on the brink of being drafted into the NFL everything is going the way he wants bar his love life! see Sean is gay he's always known it but he also knows being a football player and gay into days world is still unacceptable (Crazy i know, right) and could possibly stop his career before its even had a chance. Even tho Sean has never been with a man and I liked the fact that Sean didn't use girls to cover who he is. But does that stop the girls from flocking hell no but one girl is going to the extreme to gain Sean's attention. With Pink notes left for him and signed Mrs Drake!!!

This is where Connor comes in he's hired to keep Sean safe till the stalker can be found and stopped. Connor is openly gay after a very hard upbringing of not being accepted for who he is. He's attracted to Sean just from the photos he's seen but knows he's a client and needs to not think about the feeling he has just from a photo. The hopeless romantic!!

There's attraction on both parts straight away but neither act on it, i love that there is friendship and they get to laugh and know each other better, getting a better an understanding of each others past. But when the chemistry so strong it's only a matter of time before the fireworks explode and boy did they!!

So the fireworks explode!! what next, well Connor's support blew me away. He was so understanding to  Sean's struggles with when the right time is for coming out especially being concerned about his career, never forcing the issue showed just how secure they were feeling around each other and their relationship and what was growing stronger.

Stalker alert well i didn't see that one!! Max you did a great job of keeping us guessing. Not going to give away spoilers for that but what an emotional rollercoaster!!
Does love win out in the end with a HEA of course it does, i also like how the stalker was treated in the end as well i know some won't agree but things in our pasts have away of moulding us into how we behave and think.
And the Epilogue, well who doesn't love a good epilogue and this is sweet one loved it.

I've got to say i really enjoyed Cover Me but i loved First Down more there was just something with the banter between Connor and Sean that just got to me.
Can't wait to see what we get from Max next his books just keep getting better and better!!

**Arc Exchanged for an Honest Review**

Max Walker writes from a cozy apartment (or during breaks at the dreaded day job) for the pure escape of it all. Since the age of 14, he was constantly getting lost in fantasy worlds with trips on the backs of dragons or voyages across the stars. When he isn't writing, you can probably find him cuddling with his calico cat who might actually think she's a dog (with all that constant tail-wagging).
