Ellie Pagan has a list of reasons to stay away from Ford Landry.
It’s a mile long and was so much easier to stick to when he was a world away. Now that he’s standing in front of her—body hard and chiseled from a stint in the military, suit cut to perfection, and a smirk she could never resist—remembering all the reasons why just got a whole lot harder.
Ford gets Ellie isn’t his biggest fan. He just doesn’t care.
Standing in front of him, giving him hell, she’s even prettier than he remembered. All he can think about is how she felt in his arms, the taste of her kiss, the sound of her giggle in the middle of the night. He may not know how to win her back, but he does know this: he may have let her go once, but that’s one mistake he won’t make again.
It’s impossible not to smile that he remembered my drink of choice. It’s also hopeless to pretend that the boyish grin he’s flipping me doesn’t melt away some of the ice around my heart.
Still, I don’t want to play nice.
“I already had coffee today. But thank you,” I say politely.
“No offense, but you are kind of irritable this morning. Maybe you could use another shot of caffeine.”
“You think I’m irritable now? Keep it up.”
“You never were a morning person,” he laughs. “Some things never change.”
“And some things do,” I point out, giving him a look. “Seriously, why are you here?”
“I have business with Violet. Remember?”
“That’s bullshit anyway, but she’s not here. You’ll have to come back later.”
“Is that an invitation?” he laughs.
“Did it sound like one?” My arms cross over my chest and I’m aware it makes my boobs look bigger. As his eyes drop and catch the top of my cleavage, his gaze burns a trail on the ascent back up to my eyes.
Satisfaction paints a smug look on my face and desire burns in the apex of my thighs. As discreetly as possible, I clench my legs together to quell a bit of the ache that’s beginning to throb under his observation.
When our gazes meet, his is crackling. He lifts a single brow. “I damn sure hope that’s an offer to come. If it’s not, we have a problem on our hands.”
“No, you have a problem on your hands,” I say, shrugging. “It has nothing to do with me.”
“It could.”
REVIEW:
I've love these Landry men, this series has been so fantastic. Swing was my favourite that is until i read Swear. Ford has for every stole my heart. Yes he is a Landry but in others ways so not.
The Landry men all have this air about them controlled, strong still kind, caring, loving and with Lincoln we saw a softer heart. But with Ford it wasn't just his softer heart it was the way he saw life and acted towards others. Yes the Landry's were well off but Ford never seemed to let that define him. So much so when he's decides to make his own way in life and step away from the Landry expectations. He leave's it all behind to pursue a military career. In choosing this path though he breaks the heart of the only girl he ever loved!
Ellie was left heart broken when Ford up'd and left to join the military when they were teenagers. He didn't just break her heart though he broke her trust. She went on to find her own way in life but has always struggled with matters of the heart. She's successful in life doing what she's always wanted to do in helping people, She has such a kind heart.
Finding herself back in Savannah opening her store she has no idea that the boy who left her shattered years ago has returned also. When their paths cross she knows instantly that she's never gotten over him she feels the pull towards him is strong.
Ford feels it too but where Ellie is guarding her heart Ford tells Ellie exactly how he feels and what he wants and thats a life with Ellie. Ford is determined to prove he left for all the right reasons and Ellie's determined not to allow him back in.
"You can’t let fear of the unknown make you stop living ."
This second chance love story had my heart swooning, i laughed, cried and fell in love all over again with this family. It proves that if its meant to be it will be no amount of time or space will stop it. Fate will always find a way especially with soulmates.
“Just how I need to remember that when storms roll in, how beautiful the rainbow is going to be.”
Adriana Locke nailed everything with in this book, and then some. This for me has been the best so far in the series. Now i'm just waiting for my dinner invite because i'm dying to know the news that Ford and Ellie will be telling and i NEED Swink's story!!
