Will a centuries-old broken heart ruin the promise of new love?
Dominic Ashworth is descended from a long line of witches, although the family practice of witchcraft died out generations ago. Forever connected to a dark history, the house he grew up in remained in the Ashworth family for generations until his estranged father sold it.
On a mission to check out the new owners, Dominic runs into Caleb Jones and gives the gorgeous man his phone numberóbut getting a date should be the last thing on Dominicís agenda.
Caleb and his best friend, Zach Briceworth, are oblivious to the heartache and magic tied to the foundations of their new home. When strange things start to happen, the truth emerges and surprises them both, especially as everything revolves around Calebís new love interest.
After a shaky start, Caleb and Dominic settle into an easy relationship, falling faster than either of them expected. But with Halloween approaching, the possibility of danger increases. The past is not always as it seems, and the ripples of a tragic event threaten to put an end to everything between them.
Excerpt
ìHi.î
Dominic jumped, startled, and turned to face the stranger jogging towards him. Tall, broad-shouldered, wearing black running shorts and a bright blue T-shirt, his short black hairólongish on topóstuck to his forehead in a sweaty mess. He came to a stop in front of the gate and leaned on it, breathing heavily. ìSorry Ö just need to Ö catch my breath.î
ìA little hot for running, isnít it?î Dominicís gaze ran the length of the strangerís body and he flushed as he caught himself.
ìI donít mind. Can I help you with something?î The guy then proceeded to lift the bottom of his T-shirt and wipe his face with it.
ìUm.î Dominic swallowed. The flat, toned stomach on display reminded him of how long it had been since his last boyfriend. Although he used that term loosely. ìDo you live here?î
The guy nodded. ìYeah, just moved in.î
Oh. So either Zach was living with his parents, or Briceworth senior had left his wife and moved in with a hot younger guy.
The guy narrowed his eyes as he looked at Dominic closely. ìWhy do you ask?î
The Sold sign lying just inside the gate on the ground caught Dominicís eye. He smiled and attempted to look sheepish. It was always best to stick to the truth where possible, so he said, ìSorry, I was just curious. My sister and I used to live here, and when we heard itíd been sold, we wondered whoíd bought it.î
The guy frowned at him and cocked his head to one side, clearly suspicious.
Dominic needed to nip that in the bud. He wouldnít get any info if the guy thought he was a crazy stalker. ìGod, Iím not explaining myself well at all. My dad was the one who sold it to you. The place was in my family for generations. I havenít spoken to my father in seven years. When we found out heíd sold the house, it was a bit of a shock, and I guess I just wanted to see whoíd bought it. I donít mean to come off as weird or anything.î He smiled and stuck out his hand. ìDominic Ashworth.î
The guy smiled back, took his hand in a firm grip, and shook it. ìCaleb Jones. And itís a little weird, but lucky for you Iím okay with that.î
Having previously read a Christmas themed book by Annabelle Jacobs (Magic & Mistletoe) which i loved, I was really looking forward to this Halloween spooky read and it didn't disappoint.
"Mirrors are rumoured to be portals to the spirit realm."
All Hallow's Eve was an intriguing, ghostly, angsty M/M romance. Which kept me captivated from the first chapter. We start off in the past with Alexander being banished of this plane by is brother and family for he has been found guilty of practising dark, evil magic, Blood Magic. Alexander thinking their magic is no rival to his, believes he will be able to return. That is until Isaac reveals that all family member's will now bare the mark/tattoo stopping him from returning.
Now we jump forward to 2016 to Dominic and Alice who are direct descendant's of the Ashworth family. They know why they bare the mark and the history of the family home. So when Dominic's father sells the property both Dominic and Alice need to make sure that whoever is living their now is protected to stop Alexander's return. Dominic returns to the home and this is where he meets Caleb the house mate to the owners son Zach. While Zach is a descendant even though he is unaware of the history Caleb isn't.
There is instant chemistry between Dominic and Caleb but as their relationship develops strange things begin to happen. This is where the twist's and turn's of this read start's, leading us through a mixture of romance, mysteries and ghostly happenings.
Now i'm not going to give to much away and believe me there's a lot more going on that meets the eye and by giving you everything where would be the fun in that. Annabelle Jacob's has done an amazing job with this haunting read and i would recommend both author and book.
